Just Got Back From the Mateel
Community Art Festival
This Art and Music Festival was a lot of fun! I learned a "new" word for cool or neat, which is "sick!" A few of the young people (I hate to think of myself as old, but these young people were in their 20's.) would say "that is sick," when they saw some of our glass art they liked. I could tell by the expression on their faces that this new phrase is a positive one. However, I did ask my husband if I was interpreting it correctly :) I don't think I will be adding this new word into my vocabulary for cool -- just isn't something I will find myself using. It is certainly fine for anyone else to say, if they prefer. We enjoyed showing our Glass Art to everyone who came by our booth. We did pretty well and are considering going back next year. We sold a bunch of our fused glass earrings and fused glass pendants, also a large red fused glass bowl and a fused glass rectangular plate. We also sold a couple of fused glass spoon rests and a fused glass snowman sun catcher. Our Grey Goose Vodka Bottle Spoon Rests and Trivets were popular, too. A lot of people came to listen to the wide variety of music and to enjoy the wide variety of hand crafted art. I enjoyed the music all weekend, too. Our booth was almost right across from a belly dancing booth. How do they move like that? I think it would be fun to take some lessons sometime. Christine |

Winner of Fused Glass Plate
We had a free drawing at the Spring Fair last March. The prize was a 9 1/2" square fused glass plate using a Black and Clear Baroque Iridized glass. Gisel was the winner and contacted us right away. She really admired all of our glass art and was so excited to get the free fused glass plate. She said in her email that she never wins anything. Guess she can't say that anymore! Our Next Art Festival Summer Arts & Music Festival Benbow, California The Mateel Community Center in Benbow, CA is putting on this Art Festival from June 6th-7th, 2009. The hours are 9:30 am - 10 pm on Saturday and 9:30 - 9:30 pm on Sunday.
We have not been to this Art Festival before, but we heard from someone that it is a very good show. We always like to try new shows. Maybe we'll see you there! Tell us you read our website blog! Christine |

Back From Spring Fair Christine's Grandmother passed away last Thursday, so she flew back to Minnesota on Friday while David set up for the Spring Fair and was at the booth all three days by himself. He had a great time seeing past customers and meeting new people. He sold a wide variety of our glass art, such as glass pendants, glass earrings, glass bowls, a few clear iridized glass vases, a fused Jack Daniels bottle, a fused Crown Royal Bottle, several slumped and fused Grey Goose Bottles, and others.
There was a lot of entertainment for everyone's enjoyment. There was a stage for a wide variety of entertainment, such as bands, singers, storytellers, bellydancers, etc. He was so exhausted from the weekend that he didn't even go to his Monday night game night with his buddies. He never misses his game night :( He did a great job even though I wasn't there. Thanks so much for his support during my absence. Christine |
